Hello, I also have the need, may I ask you for a link as well? Thank you Al. Steve Kurasch Claris International, Inc. I have exported my Bento database into a csv file and then imported it into Filemaker Pro 14 successfully.

How do I get a nice looking form instead of the ugly spreadsheet look? Steve Kurasch Claris International.

Hi Steve, There was no screen shot attached in your email but I have already done this before. What it shows is only one entry out of 38, entries I imported. See screen shot. I want to be able to see all files in a form view like in Bento. See next screen shot I clicked on Browse mode and I can see all the data for one entry in a stack much like a spreadsheet column.

Can this be re-arranged to look like the Bento layout in the layout mode? Once I have a layout I like can I save it and re-import the csv file into that format? Some other questions; 1. How much text will be imported if a field has considerable text in it. I also would like to add a field where an articles full text is stored. Is that possible? I had to drag the imported data file in the finder over top of the application to get it to open.

How do I open a specific database? I want drop-down selections as well. I have quite a few selections in the Bento drop-downs. How do these get imported? Does Filemaker automatically enter the date created and date modified? I noticed the export contained empty fields that are not part of the original database. Any idea why that is happening? Second, there is no screen shot in your post.

To answer your questions: 1 - A text field can import 64K characters. Can I post them in the Bento 4. When I try to start the tool it says my preferences only allow Apple store items to be installed. Do you know how I change this? One of the problems is there are 6 different databases in my Bento app. How can I separate out only 1?

Note Data might appear differently after you import because of the differences in field mapping between Bento and FileMaker Pro and issues related to numerical precision. Dates also display a time. Data is reformatted into FileMaker Pro format. If the Bento database requires a password, FileMaker Pro also requires it.

Location fields are imported as two separate Number fields: [Fieldname] Longitude and [Fieldname] Latitude.

Tab characters are inserted between each column. Carriage return characters are inserted between each row. Although simple list fields in Bento 4 support types other than text, FileMaker Pro imports the data as text. The following user-created field types in Bento are not supported in FileMaker Pro:. Relationships are read and converted into new simplified FileMaker Pro relationships. Field labels are arranged to the left of each field, with each field created having the original field background color and text font.

FmPro Migrator automatically determines the name and attributes for the Primary Key column within each Bento database table. Bento Counter fields are also configured as Auto Enter Serial Number fields having the Next Value parameter configured, but since Counter fields are not Primary Key fields, the Unique and Not Empty validation parameters are not enabled.
